Time to update the list of volunteer activities I’ve been involved in recently in Aurora, Illinois.
NEW: Board Member, Aurora Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association – Communications Coordinator. The Communications Coordinator is responsible for filing any reports required of the CPAAA by any state, local or federal statute. The Coordinator also acts as the assistant newsletter editor and as a columnist and manages the content of the city of Aurora/APD website as it pertains to the CPAAA. The Coordinator also investigates the use of social media to communicate with members of the organization and the community. Elected to the Board August 2018.
Recent:
Mayor Richard C. Irvin Transition Team Subcommittee, Arts, Culture & Recreation. Assisted in the development of a transition plan that will serve as a guide for the Mayor and his staff in how to move Aurora forward. 2017
CMAP LTA Aurora: Community Contributor 2016-2017 Providing assistance in the effort to update, complement, and enhance the 2005 Seize the Future Master Plan
Aurora Preservation Commission, Appointed to a 3 year term in December, 2014. Completed December, 2017. The Commission designates landmarks, historical districts and urban conservation districts within the corporate limits of Aurora; issues, modifies or denies certificates of appropriateness and economic hardship; adopts rules and regulations, including guidelines for historic properties in Aurora.
Aurora Citizens Police Academy Alumni, Graduate, Class #41 Assist the Aurora Police Department in it’s overall mission, and foster the belief that preservation of public welfare is the duty of every citizen.
Aurora History Round Table Moderator of the first quarterly round table discussion about Aurora history sponsored by the Santory Public Library and Aurora IL – Then and Now. January, 2017 to June, 2018
